How To Tune Up STIHL FS 90R Trimmer or Weedeater With Hipa All-In-One Carburetor Kit

by Jeremy HIPA 13 Mar 2023 0 Comments

If you own a Stihl FS 90R trimmer, you know how important it is to keep it running smoothly. One of the most effective ways to do that is by performing regular tune-ups. However, buying individual parts for a tune-up can be time-consuming and costly.

That's where the HIPA all-in-one kit comes in. This comprehensive kit includes everything you need to tune up your Stihl FS 90R trimmer in one convenient package. In this blog, we will guide you through the steps of tuning up your trimmer using the HIPA all-in-one kit.

Preparation

Before you begin tuning up your trimmer, you need to make sure the engine has cool, and prepare some tools you may use.
1. A FS 90R trimmer
2. A eight-millimeter socket
3. A pair of cut-resistance gloves
4. A Hipa All-In-One kit for Stihl FS 90R(including a carburetor, an air filter, a spark plug, a fuel filter, a fuel line, a primer bulb, and some gaskets)

Steps

Step 1: Remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.

Step 2: Loosen the knob to release the air filter cover and the air filter itself. Use an eight-millimeter socket or nut driver to unthread the air filter housing mounting nuts. Now you can lift up the choke lever and remove the housing.

Step 3: Take off the plastic cover first. Detach the throttle cable from the carburetor and note the orientation of the fuel lines. Then detach the fuel lines to fully remove the old carburetor.

Step 4: Lift up the cable mount to remove the old gasket. And now you are ready to install the new carburetor.

Step 5: Slide the new gasket onto the mounting posts and attach the new fuel lines to the appropriate carburetor ports. Keep in mind that when you pull the line attached to the fuel tank off, make sure that your fuel cap is off.

Step 6: Attach the Z end of the throttle cable to the carburetor. Now align the carburetor on the mounting posts. It is also important to confirm that the cable mount is properly positioned. Then push the carburetor into place with the choke lever up.

Step 7: Realign the air filter housing and secure it with the nuts. Put the plastic cover back on, open the choke, replace the air filter, reposition the air filter cover and tighten the knob to secure.

Step 8: Remove the old spark plug and install the new one by threading it into the cylinder head. Be careful not to over-tighten. And now it is time to replace the fuel filter.

Step 9: Pull the retainer out of the tank. Now use a wire with a hook to pull out the fuel line and filter. Slide off the retaining ring and pull off the old filter from the line.

Step 10: Install the new fuel filter by pushing it into place on the fuel line. Secure the filter with the retaining ring and gently reinsert the fuel line and filter back into the tank. And you have to make sure there are no restrictions in the line.

Step 11: Insert the gas cap retainer into the tank then thread the cap on and tighten.

With the repair completed, reattach the wire in boot to the spark plug. And now your string trimmer should be ready for use.
