How To Tune-Up / Adjust STIHL FS 55R Trimmer With Hipa All-In-One Carburetor Kit
Performing regular maintenance and tuning up your Stihl FS 55R trimmer is essential for keeping it running smoothly and efficiently.
The Hipa all-in-one kit can help you do this, as it includes most of the necessary parts for a regular tune-up, such as a carburetor, air filter, spark plug, fuel filter, fuel line, and carburetor gaskets.
However, the instructions can be a challenge for those who are not familiar with small engine repair.
In this blog, we will provide step-by-step instructions on how to tune up your Stihl FS 55R trimmer using the Hipa all-in-one kit.
Preparation
Before you begin tune up your trimmer, you need to make sure the engine has cool, and prepare some tools you may use.
1. A FS 55R trimmer
2. A Flat-Head Screwdriver
3. An eight-millimeter socket
4. A pair of cut-resistance gloves
5. A Hipa All-In-One kit for Sthil FS 55R(including a carburetor, an air filter, a spark plug, two fuel filters, a fuel line, two primer bulbs, and some gaskets)
Steps
Step 1: Remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.
Step 2: You need to remove the air filter assembly. Loosen the knob to release the air filter cover and the air filter itself. Use an eight millimeter socket or nut driver to unthread the air filter housing mounting nuts. Now you can lift up the choke lever and remove the housing.
Step 3: Detach the throttle cable from the carburetor and note the orientation of the fuel lines. Then detach the fuel lines to fully remove the old carburetor and gaskets.
Step 4: Keep in mind that after you take the old carb off. It is better to take some carb cleaner and rinse this area off. You can take a flat-head screwdriver and jam it under the grommet, twist it and pop it out.
Step 5: Stab the new fuel filter in the new fuel line.
Step 6: Then drop it in the fuel tank and push it in. And you need to use a flat-head screwdriver to push the grommet in the rest of the way and just take and pry it in a little.
At a time until it all pops in, make sure the short line that links to your fuel filter is on the left.
Step 6: Slide the new gasket onto the mounting posts and attach the new fuel lines to the appropriate carburetor ports. Keep in mind that when you pull the line attached to the fuel tank off, make sure that your fuel cap is off.
Step 7: Attach the Z end of the throttle cable to the carburetor. Now align the carburetor on the mounting posts. It is also important to confirm that the cable mount is properly positioned. Then push the carburetor into place with the choke lever up. Install a new gasket on the outside.
Step 8: Realign the air filter housing and secure it with the nuts. Open the choke, replace the air filter, reposition the air filter cover and tighten the knob to secure it.
Step 9: Remove the old spark plug and install the new one by threading it into the cylinder head. Be careful not to over-tighten.
Step 10: Insert the gas cap retainer into the tank then thread the cap on and tighten.
With the repair completed, reattach the wire in boot to the spark plug. And now your string trimmer should be ready for use.
